Accessibility statement.

Last updated: 18 August 2026

Elysia Legal aims to ensure that everyone can have an equally good experience of our platform. This accessibility statement is prepared in line with the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, and is based on the official model accessibility statement published by the Government Digital Service (GDS).

Responsibility for accessibility

Elysia Legal is responsible for this digital service and for keeping the accessibility statement up to date. The statement has been prepared and quality assured by Elysia Legal following an internal review of the platform.

Compliance status

Elysia Legal seeks to meet the requirements of WCAG 2.1, level AA. Work on accessibility is an ongoing process, and new features are assessed against the applicable requirements before they are published.

Current status: Partially compliant

The platform largely meets the requirements, but there are areas where accessibility is not yet fully implemented. Known gaps are listed below.

Known gaps

The following gaps are known and planned to be remedied in priority order.

Recently improved

  • Text links in body copy now have a darker colour contrast that meets the 4.5:1 requirement for smaller text, including links in legal sources and the footer.
  • Legal sources and statutory references have been given improved semantic markup with accessible link text, so that they are easier for screen readers to interpret.
  • A floating accessibility widget has been added that allows users to switch on high contrast mode and larger text across the whole platform, without having to change their system settings.
  • Global focus outlines for keyboard navigation have been introduced in accordance with WCAG 2.4.7, and floating elements are now positioned with adequate spacing from content on small screens.

Remaining gaps

  • AI-generated legal documents in PDF format still lack consistent marking for screen readers. Documents can be ordered in an alternative format on request.
  • The platform has not been fully tested with all types of assistive technology, and some keyboard navigation flows may still be inconsistent. A full WCAG audit remains to be carried out.

We are continually working to remedy these gaps and prioritise changes that have the greatest effect for our users.
